The attractive GranTurismo is a modern replacement for the 4200GT coupe, derived from a shortened Quattroporte platform. The sizeable GranTurismo is a pure Italian, given its Ferrari-developed engine and mechanicals, powered by a 4.2-litre V8 mated to a 6-speed automatic that adjusts to individual driving styles. An S version ups the ante with a new 4.7-litre V8, mated to a 6-speed MC-Shift automanual. Everything can be customised, including the interior, which can be had in a choice of 10 colours, accented by either wood or body-colour trim. This new-for-2008 two-door 2+2 coupe is a grand tourer rather than an all-out sports car, but still offers a balanced drive thanks to an optimal 49:51 weight distribution and sporting suspension. It is fitted with an automatic gearbox and equipped with an adaptive control system which adjusts the gear-shifting mode to the driving style and conditions. Maserati added the new S version to the line-up later with a sportier demeanour. All cars get a full suite of luxury features, such as power windows, premium CD stereo, electric mirrors, power-adjustable leather seats, alloy wheels, multiple airbags, ABS brakes, stability control and more.
