The beautiful DB7 first came into being back in 1995, signaling the new look for Aston Martin. The convertible Volante model came in 1997. The early models soldiered on with a Jaguar-derived supercharged 3.2-litre 6-cylinder engine until 2000, with a choice of 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic. The Vantage model came in 2000, packing a solid Ford-derived 6.0-litre V12, again with a choice of 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic. The DB7 GT, with an upgraded V12, was launched in 2002, concentrating on improving chassis dynamics, with revised rigidity, steering and suspension, as well as additions such as an integrated rear spoiler and undertray. The automatic GT did not get the upgraded V12. All basic luxuries of the time were standard, such as power windows, leather cabin, electric mirrors and what not. Only around 7,000 were ever built.
